The Bat-Blog was recently blessed with a preview of a brand-new illustration by famed Graphic Designer Christopher Franchi. He's the Art Director for Metaluna 5 Media, which handles a lot of licensed properties like: KISS, Bettie Page, Alice Cooper, Star Trek, Superman, Spawn, Peanuts, Evil Dead, Betty Boop and the list goes on & on. Here is an EXCLUSIVE & Super-Awesome 1966 BATMAN WALLPAPER Chris created for the BAT-BLOG! Well, he did all the artwork & I put the Bat-Blog Logo on it, ha! Now, of course, this image relates to the 1960's BATMAN MOVIE because it shows Lee Merriwether as Catwoman. Plus, it's got the other Super-Evil Villains: The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), and the Hero himself, BATMAN ( Adam West )! The artwork is extremely amazing! The illustrations were all done on Cold-Press Art Board with Gouache and Colored Pencil. Then, they were scanned and assembled digitally. I like how each character has their own colored-outline, to make them sort of pop-off the page. There is also that "light ray" effect that's pretty freakin' cool!! ( Thanks Christopher, I know everybody is going to totally love this incredible Bat-Art!! )
Here's a totally cool personal photo sent in to the Bat-Blog. It shows our friend Gene when he got to meet Frank Gorshin, Live in Person, at the Chiller Theatre Convention back in 1999. He said he was extremely gracious & a very nice guy, very down to earth. Actually, this is the only thing I have ever heard about him, that he was just a really great guy to be around. As a little kid I always loved him as the Riddler on the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. It's so cool that he was such a good person too. RIP Mr. Gorshin, you are missed. ( Gene, Thank You very much For Sharing Your Wonderful Photo ).

OK, This week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" is gonna get really really weird, ha! First off we have a very nice piece of art sent in to us by our friend Gary. It's an image of one of the strangest Super-Villains in Comic Book history, COMPOSITE SUPERMAN! This weird character has developed sort of a cult following over the years & keeps making appearances from time to time. Basically, his costume is half-Batman and half-Superman. I don't know, I've always thought it looks pretty cool! If ya wanna learn more about this guy then just click HERE, it's pretty interesting stuff. Next up, the Bat-Blog is mostly known for being a place where Serious Batman Toy Collectors show-up. The history of merchandise for the Caped Crusader is vast & we love all the cool vintage stuff that's been made over the years. One area of collecting that I have always loved are the Mego Dolls from the 1970's. In this wallpaper I used a simple clean photo of THE RIDDLER Figure. Go ahead, try it as a background, you'll like it, ha!
We're excited! The Bat-Blog just got some awesome new photos showing the costumes and set design for the UK stage show of BATMAN LIVE WORLD ARENA TOUR!! They were very large pics so I decided to offer them as super-fun BATMAN LIVE WALLPAPERS you can use to brighten your desktop's background. All the photos are pretty much self-explanatory! The 1st one shows the costumes for some of the characters: The Joker, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Batman, Robin, Riddler, The Penguin, & Poison Ivy. The next wallpaper features just Batman and Robin, but it shows a lot of details to their costume design. Last, but not least, the final photo shows what the "Gotham City" Set Design of the Stage will look like. So, which costume is your favorite?
YES! FINALLY! We finally get some decent press coverage from the BATMAN LIVE World Tour Show that will start in the UK & then arrive later in the US. Oh yeah, Featured in these 4 Video Clips: We get to see the Set Design, an Animation Sample for the Stage Video Screen, a CG representation of Harley Quinn's Carnival & also Wayne Manor ( with a very small teaser of the Bat-Cave ), and then the very last video shows all the Actors & their Costumes! Oh man, everything looks really really AWESOME!! I think this show is going to be incredible!
Check out these cool pics! These photos were sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named John who loves to create Custom-Made Action Figures of his favorite Batman characters. Just check out the one he made of The Riddler, AWESOME! Then, if you study the other pics, you'll also see Batman, Bane, Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, The Joker, & Mr. Freeze! I think they are all very well done, good job John & thanks for sharing the pictures. Our friend, The BATFAN, sent us these wonderful photos of some brand-new Batman merchandise he recently added to his collection, BATMAN GOLF CLUB COVERS! They're made by a company called "Creative Covers" ( Link down below ). Basically there are 2 different sets. One set consists of Batman characters: The Dark Knight, Joker, Penguin, & Riddler that are sort of like Plush Animals. If I got the info correct I think they're about 24" long, that's pretty BIG! Then there are some that are standard head covers and they have a more modern-day BATMAN comic book logo on them. I'm not sure if these are made by Creative Covers because they're packaged for retail sale & look different. But all of these covers are really cool, especially the plush ones! I don't play Golf, but if I did, I would have to have these, ha ha! Oh yeah, for more info on where to find the plush ones, just click HERE!
Just in time for Christmas is this totally amazing DC SUPER FRIENDS TRIO Play Set! Our good friend "Batmobilly" spotted this treasure while shopping the other day at Target. It looks like Fisher Price has come out with a BATCAVE SUPER MEGA SET & it's totally AWESOME! Click on the picture up above for a larger version, it's beautiful! You get the Batcave, a Batmobile Car, the Joker-Bot, the Batwing Jet, 6 other accessories/mini-vehicles, and a TON of figures!! The characters include: The Joker, Robin, Batman, Superman, Penguin, Riddler, & Mr. Freeze. There are 11 figures in all with a few different variations of Batman, Robin, & the Prince of Crime, The Joker! WOW! This is CRAZY!! Check out these wonderful photos sent in to the Bat-Blog by an extremely serious Batman Fan named Rick. I mean, this guy totally loves the character! To prove it he has had a ton of tattoo work done all over his body. The artwork is very well done & covers many different themes of the character. You have different comic book logos, many different villains ( The Joker, Penguin, & Riddler ), a few variations of Batman himself, the GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) Blimp, The Joker Card, & even a "POW! & BAM!" from the 1966 TV Show! WOW! I wanna thank Rick for both sending in these great pics & for being such an awesome fan...that's cool! Now a question for our readers, Do YOU have any bat-tats?
