Here are a few Vintage POST Cereal Boxes with cool graphics from the 1989 BATMAN Movie. They were made for the Canadian market & that is why the boxes have both English & French languages on them. They did the promotion on Honey Combs, Sugar Crisp, & Alpha Bits. Also, if you look at the back of the box ( 1st photo, right-side ), then you'll see that the free premiums available inside the box were some "3-Way Action Trading Cards"... AWESOME! Now, I never knew that they made these back then so I hope you're as surprised as I am.
This is a fun video captured by our good friend Gerry who recently went to a screening of the 1966 BATMAN Movie at a small movie theater in Canada. Adam West was in town to be a guest at the Fan Expo Comic Book Convention & during that time he went by the theater to make a special appearance. When he came out on stage he did his famous "Batusi Dance" & Gerry caught it on film!
Neal Adams is set to do an interview on the "Where Monsters Dwell" podcast. The word 'legendary' gets thrown around a lot these days but in this case it certainly fits the bill. From his work re-establishing Batman as a dark brooding figure to his work making Green Lantern/Green Arrow 'relevant' and from his work on a few small Marvel properties like X-Men and Avengers, Neal Adams has cemented himself as a legend in the comics industry. He joins WMD this week to chat about creator rights, how the industry has changed since he got in, his new Batman series 'Odyssey' and his new sketchbook coming from Vanguard Publishing 'The Art of Neal Adams'. It's gonna be Episode #113 so be sure to check it out & if you miss the original time you can always listen to it later.
I know that the Bat-Blog has kinda been crazy with the Halloween Holiday lately & we have been neglecting the toy collector aspect of the blog. So, here's a post to make up for it, ha ha! Here's a really nice example of a few pieces of Bat-Memorabilia made in different parts of the world. The 1st example comes from the United Kingdom ( England ) & is the Original Bubble Gum Wax Wrapper for a Set of 1966 Batman Trading Cards. Oh man, I am totally crazy over those vintage-style graphics...awesome! The next item might appear to be French but it's not from France. This is a Batman Board Game from Canada! It was made by Hasbro in 1973. OK, the last 3 pictures are a Set of Japanese Batman Canvas Sneakers. These shoes, of course, are from Japan & came out around 1966. The original shoe box is shown here with the product & it's equally as cool! Again, the graphics are just totally beautiful. Do you live outside the USA? A friend to the Bat-Blog, named Neville, sent us this really wonderful photo from the Polaris Comic Book Convention in Toronto, Canada. The picture was taken last July & shows us how some Batman Fans get totally creative! Here we see the Joker with his girlfriend, Harley Quinn, & their dog, Lou. I think it's cool that they brought their dog, how funny! Anyway, the whole family looks really great & I seriously love the costumes. Thank you Neville for sending this to us, I appreciate that. OK, in researching some of the "foreign" DVD & Blu-Ray Releases of THE DARK KNIGHT I have come across these two. The 1st one is the "German Edition" Blu-Ray Set & it comes with a Laser-Cut 3-D Display of the Bat-Pod Motorcycle. It also comes in a special display box. I imagine they will also sell a regular DVD set too but it might not have the extra gift. The 2nd one is from Canada. It's a "Special Two-Disc DVD Edition" & will come with the "Joker Goon - Bank Robber Mask" Statue. Something to keep in mind is that the Canadian one might work in US players but the German one will probably be "Region 2" so it might not. DVDs are sold in different formats for different countries. Region 1 is usually for the USA & Canada...you might check before buying one. This one has a special box also. If any other readers living outside the USA come across any special DVD sets then please let us know.
If you live in Canada then you need to hit-up one of the EMPIRE MOVIE THEATERS because they have a special premium you can ONLY buy there. It's a TDK Combo Pack! It comes with a 22 oz. Collectible Cup with Batman Top, a Bag of Popcorn, & Hershey's Candy. I really want one of those cups, the bag & wrapper too!! The next photo is a newspaper advertisement sent in by our good friend Guenter. He lives in Germany but a friend of his, who lives in India, sent him this ad that suddenly appeared in one of India's newspapers...an ad for The Dark Knight!! Oh my god!! These are the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my whole life, ha ha!! In 2008, in Canada ( arrrggghhh! ) the PEZ Candy Company will be releasing a set of 4 Batman Pez Candy Dispensers!! The set of four includes: Batman, The Joker, The Riddler, and Two-Face! They're gonna sell them in both poly-bags & as carded dispensers. ( I prefer the cards ). Near the bottom is a photo of the display box which is pretty sweet too! I'm a rabid Batman Toy Collector who also collects PEZ so these are totally driving me crazy...they WILL be MINE!
One of my friends has a really great website called DIALBFORBLOG.COM & recently he posted this very interesting video on YouTube. It's an interview with Bob Kane that was shown on Canadian TV around the time of the 1989 Batman movie. In it he takes TOTAL credit for creating Batman, funny stuff.

Here are a few examples of some RARE 60's items, mainly from 1966. The 1st item is a photo of the RARE & highly collectible 1966 AURORA Slot Car of the Batmobile from the TV Series, shown in it's original box. This is a Bat-Fan favorite & also desired by many slot car collectors for it's beauty & history. The next item is a fun coloring book featuring Robin as the main character on the cover. This was published by Whitman in 1966. The last, & most RARE item, is a felt pennant of Batman & Robin that was a souvenir of Saskatoon, Canada! Here's 2 recent photos sent to us of some cool foreign Batman food packaging. The 1st is a RARE Cereal Box from the UK. It's a box of Shredded Wheat by Nabisco with a FREE offer on the back....cool! Thanx for the photo Robert! The 2nd one is a picture sent in to us thru MySpace & it's a bag of Batman Cookies from Canada. What's cool about that item is it is English on one side & French on the back. Thanx for sending that cool pic! I have the cookies in my personal collection but would kill to have that rare UK cereal box....Ha Ha Ha!
