Video - TV Commercial BATMAN LIVE World Arena Tour
Right now, in the UK, this "BATMAN LIVE - World Arena Tour" TV Commercial is hitting the airwaves ( In England, they call it an "Advert "). The ad features some very cool special effects where "time is frozen & shown in 3D". Plus, we also get to see the characters costumes really well. Oh man, I can't wait till this show hits the US!

VIDEO - ADAM WEST Kellogg's Sugar Frosted Flakes Cereal TV Commercial
Before he became a TV-superstar as Batman, Adam West paid his rent by appearing in this TV commercial for Kellogg's Sugar Frosted Flakes Cereal. It's funny how young Adam West looks in this clip & it's also kinda cool to see the old vintage Cereal Box with the early version of Tony The Tiger... "Thhheeeyyy'rreee GREAT!"

Video - Vintage Corgi Action Toys TV Commercial - Batmobile and Bat-Copter
Here is a cool vintage Corgi Action Toys TV commercial from 1981 from Australia. It features popular heroes like Batman, Buck Rodgers and James Bond. It shows the Batmobile on the verge of falling off a skyscraper ( How did that car get up there? ). But don't worry, it's saved by the Bat-Copter!

Vintage BATMAN AND ROBIN Movie Food Products

Here are 2 print advertisements that were printed on the back cover of a few comic books back in the day. They advertised a few food products that tied into the latest Batman movie, of the time, 1997's BATMAN AND ROBIN. I remember when these came out & even though I was NOT a big fan of the film, I still bought these for their boxes. I have always loved wacky food packaging like this. In hindsight I'm glad I did. This stuff is sort of strange now & kinda hard to find. In the future they should be pretty rare. The 1st ad is for the Batman & Robin Movie Kellogg's Pop-Tarts. The weird thing is that it only shows 3 boxes but there were actually 4. I think the one they didn't show was "Batgirl". Next, we see an old ad for MR. FREEZE Freezer Bars. The funny thing is that it was the actual name of the product even before the movie promotion. Seriously, see the Snowman? That's "Mr Freeze", ha! I guess that was the perfect tie-in. The graphics on this large box were actually pretty cool.

Video - Vintage 1989 BATMAN VHS Movie TV Commercial Ad
This is just great! I don't remember this ad specifically, but it's still nostalgic. Plus, you got a free pin! It's funny that VHS tape movies cost $20 back then & are now often $1 or less used.

1992 BATMAN RETURNS Movie - Super Nintendo NES Video Game

The other day I came across this advertisement from an old comic book. It's for the 1992 BATMAN RETURNS MOVIE Video Game for the Super Nintendo System. I thought it was a neat piece of bat-history & worthy of posting. The artwork is pretty cool & I like that it features the Batmobile Car, Catwoman, & The Penguin ( click on it for a larger version ). I know it will bring back a lot of fond memories for some readers who grew-up playing this game. So, while doing this post, I thought it would be a good idea to find a video of the actual game play. That way people could relive their glory days & also people who have never seen this game in action would get a good idea what it actually looked like back then. Oh man, the graphics are so extremely cheesy! If you have played the recent BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM game then you know just how far video game graphics have advanced...it's crazy! Please watch the video & then comment about some of your stories, thanks.

Strange BATMAN Advertising From Argentina!

Here's a really weird piece of Batman history I came across the other day. It's a picture of an advertisement that might have appeared in a vintage comic book. I'm pretty sure that it is from Argentina. It features Batman, Robin, & Jim Gordon. It looks like they are trying to sell Strawberry Yogurt??? It's made to look like a comic book page & it's titled "El Acertijo", which means, "The Riddler". But, the Riddler character is NOT in the ad...yes, very strange. If anybody can read this, or knows about its origin, then please let us know.

THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Ad Banners in Taipei City!

WOW! Last week I met a Batman Fan all the way from Egypt & now one from Taiwan...how cool is that? Last night I got a very nice email from a new friend named Jerry who lives there. He wrote to say how much he loved the Bat-Blog ( I never get tired of hearing that, ha ha! ) & he sent these wonderful photos he took awhile back in Taipei City. As you can see, THE DARK KNIGHT Batman movie was a very big deal there. In fact, they posted these HUGE mural-size billboards advertising the film. I totally love that! Taipei City is a great place I would like to visit. For awhile it had the tallest building in the world until when Dubai recently completed their latest skyscraper & stole the title. But regardless, it's one of the world's greatest cities & a very beautiful place. I want to thank Jerry for sending these fun pics & also want to invite all other Bat-Blog Readers to do the same. Remember, please send us ANY Batman-related stuff you come across...thanks!!

Vintage Advertising: THE JOKER & Hostess Fruit Pies!

Oh Man, People just go totally crazy for Hostess Fruit Pies, ha ha! OK, does everybody remember these wonderful Vintage Ads that were inside comic books in the 1970's & 1980's? I know that when I was a little kid I used to really love them. The pies were great too. My favorite was Cherry & if they didn't have that then Apple would be an acceptable choice. Anyway, these old advertisements are fun to read. Just click on it for a larger, more readable, version. Also, be sure to check the BAT-ARCHIVES for many more that have been posted in the past. The archives are located on the left side, toward the middle of the page. It's also a great way to read almost 3000 other posts!

BATMOBILE Italian CODATRONCA CAR - TV Commercial : This is Not Gotham City!
Here's an Italian TV Advertising Commercial from Italy. It's a short ad for the Italian CODATRONCA Car Company. The basic message, I guess, is that their new automobile looks like Batman's Car, but it is NOT the Batmobile! Ha Ha, enjoy.

Vintage BATMAN AND ROBIN Parody Advertisement

Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named Ed who is totally into Model Trains. Recently, while looking through some old "Train Collector" Magazines, he came across this advertisement for the Lloyd Ralston Toy Company. Be sure to click on it for a larger, more readable version. It was a full-page ad with a complete parody of the 1960's Batman Comic Book ( or maybe the 1966 TV Show ). It features 2 characters called "Trainman & Locoboy"! The artwork is pretty cool & the whole thing is kinda funny! Thank you Ed for sending this in, You ROCK, Sir! ( If any other readers have wacky stuff like this to share then please do ).

Hot BAT-BABE Featured in New Army and Air Force Exchange Halloween Costume Sales Flyer

Here's sort of a funny newspaper advertisement sent in by our good buddy Ed. It shows 3 Hot Babes pushing Halloween Costumes, with one of them being Batgirl. It's from this year's 2009 Army and Air Force Exchange (AAFES) Halloween sales flyer. He said he thought it was interesting that, of all the costumes they could have picked, they chose the Bat-Babe as one of the three highlighted. Well, Ed, I do have to agree that she is a Bat-Babe for sure! But that Freddie Kruger "Nightmare on Elm Street" Babe isn't too bad either, ha ha! Thanks for sending it in.

Hostess Fruit Pies Advertising: Batman and The Corsair of Crime!

Anyone who read comic books in the 1970's or 1980's has got to remember all the Hostess Cupcake, Twinkies, & Fruit Pie ads starring some of their favorite Marvel & DC Superheroes. They ran these all the time & I totally loved them! First, it wasn't like a regular advertisement. They made it look like another page of the comic book to trick you into reading them. Second, they were always such fun because the hero would use Hostess Treats as a way to confuse the criminals. Apparently, if you throw packaged Fruit Pies at crooks or bank robbers their brains just totally short-circuit & they go nuts for the fruit filling! But, I mean, who can blame them? At the time they had Cherry, Apple, & Peach! My personal favorite was Cherry. As a little kid I used to completely love them & I would beg my Mom to buy some at the store, ha ha! ( Be sure to click on the ad up above for a more readable version. You'll be glad you did because it is quite the adventure ).

The Very Very Very First Appearance of Batman!!

Recently I have been thinking about how this year, 2009, is the 70th Anniversary of one of the greatest comic book characters ever, Batman! The weird thing is that DC Comics ( Warner Bros ) has not been hyping that fact very much. Oh, they have mentioned it a little but there's NO huge fanfare like I would like to see. So, then later I got to wonder what was THE very very first appearance of Batman? I'm not talking about Detective Comics # 27 where they introduced the character. I started to wonder if they showed him in any other way as sort of an introduction or teaser. Well, here it is! The graphic you see up above is the VERY FIRST TIME anybody, mainly children, got to see the Dark Knight! This image is from the 1939 issue of Action Comics # 12. It hyped the fact that there would be a brand-new superhero added to their lineup & said to look for the May issue of Detective Comics! Now, you really have to wonder...what did kids think when they 1st saw this small image of the Caped Crusader for the very first time? Wow! That must have been really cool!! Looking at the sale figures for that book they must have loved it, ha ha!
