BATMAN AD : Batman From The 30's To The 70's Hardback Book
Here's a picture sent in by a BAT-BLOG reader that I meant to share awhile back but like a moron put it in the wrong folder & didn't find it until now, ha ha. Sorry, Frank but thanks for a very cool picture of an original ad placed in a publication for bookstore owners to order books. It was an ad from the publishers of the now classic hardback book BATMAN FROM THE 30's TO THE 1970's! I had this book as a kid & still have it in my personal collection. It's one of my all-time favorite bat-items. It has some really great stories & wonderful graphics. In the picture up above you can see the large hardback book on the right, the ad is on the left side...nice! The artwork is done by classic Silver Age artist Carmine Infantino! Thanks again Frank for this piece of Bat-History!

Vintage Batman & Robin Toys From The 1960's
Whew! Yesterday I just got back from vacation & it was a nice trip. It's really nice to get outta town for a few days & recharge the old batteries. Now I'm ready to get back to posting! I thought I would share some pics of a few cool Vintage Batman Toys because that is what BAT-BLOG readers like best. I usually have a "theme" to these posts but this time they're just a mix of toys from mostly the1960's. Some are even foreign ones. The 1st photo is a picture of an original 1966 Batman Gumball Machine Vending Display Card showing some Flicker Key Chains. In my personal collection I have ALL the key chains but not this display card...aaahhhh! Thanks for sending the photo, Dave! The next shot is a nice picture of the 1966 Batman Marble Maze Game by Hasbro. This is a large clear disc where you try to move marbles around a game board without the marble falling in a hole, sort of a huge dexterity puzzle game. I love the vintage-style graphics. The 3rd picture is a really RARE 1967 Coloring Book from the UK. Actually it's a Sticker-Fun Book but made by the famous coloring book people & in the same format.

1940's Golden Age BATMAN # 7 Comic Book Cover
I just got back from vacation so I thought I would do this quick post & then try to get some sleep. We just got done driving for about 4 hours, not too bad but still pretty tired. Here's the front & back cover to BATMAN # 7. We love the advertisement for the RED RYDER BB Gun. This is a Golden Age Classic! ( Click on the small picture for a larger photo ). The other post I did tonight was some cool Batman Wallpapers so be sure to look below for that as well....enjoy!

ADAM WEST & BATMAN MAD MAGAZINE Wallpaper
I just got back from vacation so I thought I would post these 2 Batman Wallpapers & then get some sleep. The 1st one is the most current publicity photograph of Adam West. He still looks great for a man in his 70's, don'tcha think? I got this from a guy who got it directly from Mr. West's PR guy! The 2nd wallpaper was one I found at the Official Warner Brothers Mad Magazine website. It speaks for itself, ha ha ha. Remember, every Wednesday is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" here at the olde BAT-BLOG!

ALL-STAR COMICS A New Comic Book Shop in Oklahoma City
Here at the BAT-BLOG we like to think globally & act locally. Did I say that right? Does that make sense? What I mean to say is that we have this blog that reaches the world on a daily basis. We get around 300+ visitors a day, that's about 12,000 a month! We get e-mail from readers who live everywhere: Japan, Texas, California, Argentina, Germany, Kansas, The UK, etc...We love it! But, we live in Oklahoma City, OK. That's the neat thing about the internet. We're all connected. But, I wanted to take a moment to praise a new business in my hometown. The place is ALL-STAR COMICS. They have just opened & I know they want to invite everyone here in Oklahoma to come check them out. The graphic up above covers their address & phone information so if you live in the area please give them a visit. They are open 7 days a week. I know the guy who owns it & he's a nice guy. He runs his business with fairness & honesty...a good place to buy comics for sure. This new store just started but so far it's looking pretty good & they have a great selection of both new & vintage comics. So remember, if you live near Oklahoma City, give ALL-STAR COMICS a try!!

RARE & Unusual Batman Memorabilia From 1966
The BAT-BLOG is famous for featuring Vintage Batman Toys & the ones from the 1960's are our favorites. Now, we also cover the stuff from the 70's, the 80's Batman Movies, & the Animated Series. We even profile alot of very current items too but the 60's stuff is what we love best! Here's some nice bat-items from 1966: the 1st one is pretty hard-to-find & quite RARE, it's a BATMAN PILLOW! They made a few variations. The 2nd piece of Bat-Memorabilia is a COLOR & RUB-OUT BATMAN KIT made by Whitman, the company famous for their great coloring books. This kit came with 8 different pictures that were plastic-covered & after you colored them you could just wipe the Crayon marks off & do it again! I have this in my personal collection but it's missing 1 or 2 pages. The guy I bought it from said it was complete & charged me an arm & a leg for it...arrrggghh! That's the only time THAT ever happened, I learned my lesson. The 3rd bit of Bat-Nostalgia is also made by Whitman ( sort of a theme happening here I guess ). It's a BATMAN ACTIVITY BOX. Basically it came with some punch-out free-standing characters & a large mat you could color. I guess it's sort of like paper dolls but without the clothes....really super-rare!
1966 Batman BATMOBILE & BATPLANE Aurora Model Kits
Here's a vintage 1960's comic book ad that ran for the Batman 1966 Batmobile & Batplane Aurora Model Kits. We know a lot of BAT-BLOG readers collect models related to Bat-Memorabilia. It's kind of shocking that these sold for only 98¢.
Bootleg Batman Comic Book from Iran!
A friend to the BAT-BLOG sent in these 2 graphics from a 1970's Batman comic book that was published in Iran. He said he wasn't sure of it was a licensed product or just ripped off. We think it's probably bootlegged but the graphics are really cool. We love the Batman Logo!! Thanks Jordan for the cool pix! If any other readers have some contributions they would like to share then please send them in too!
Original Art for Golden Age 1940's Batman Comic Strip
Here's the original comic strip art work for the Batman Daily Newspaper Strip dated February 19th, 1946. ( Click the small picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). The art work was done by Dick Sprang & Charles Paris. There are 2 new books recently published that reprint the vintage 40's Batman comic strips & I have been really enjoying these again. When I saw this picture on the internet of some original art I had to share it.....classic stuff!

JERRY ROBINSON 1999 Batman & Robin Comic Book Convention Sketch
Here's an awesome comic book convention sketch done in 1999 by none other than Jerry Robinson. For readers who don't know who this guy is he's the classic Golden Age Batman artist who created both Robin The Boy Wonder AND The Joker!! I mean, this guy is very important to all of us! He is a comic book legend ( practically an ICON ) & we really love this drawing. Thanks Will for sharing this with us. I know a lot of our readers are gonna appreciate it! Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for over 500+ posts, there's alot more cool art in there!!

Batman Wallpaper for a MySpace Layout or Desktop
OK, regular BAT-BLOG readers know the drill. Every Wednesday here at the BAT-BLOG we publish 2 fresh Batman-Themed Wallpapers you can use in a MySpace Layout or to brighten your desktop. This week we decided to include these two. The 1st one is a Custom Batman Chopper Motorcycle that was made for some super-lucky rich person ( not made for any movie or anything ). I wish I knew who did it, to give them props, but whoever they were they did an incredible job on it...it's sweet! The 2nd wallpaper is a "Behind-The-Scenes" photo at the filming of the original 1966 Batman TV Series showing Burt Ward & Adam West in action. I really love this photo & it does make a cool background. Give it a try, I think you'll like it!!
Original Comic Book Art By JIM LEE / All Star Batman and Robin # 5
Here's the original artwork for the cover to ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN #5. They did a double cover for this comic book & one is drawn by Frank Miller while the other one, this one, was done by Jim Lee ( I like the Jim Lee one better, just my opinion ). This comic has great art work & a pretty good story but a lot of fans are kinda mad because of the way DC Comics have been handling this title. Issues 1 thru 4 had some small problems with staying on schedule but it was a whole year before #5 came out. But, from what I have read at some of the Message Boards, this issue is really great. This comic book is in stores right now so you should check it out before it sells out. I haven't read it yet but the art is top notch.

New Movie Photo THE DARK KNIGHT Heath Ledger as THE JOKER
Recently Warner Bros released the publicity photo showing Aaron Eckhart in character for Harvey Dent, now this. Here's the current publicity photo of Heath Ledger as THE JOKER in the new THE DARK KNIGHT movie. He looks pretty scary to me!! Nolan is a great director so we're really pumped about this 2nd Batman Film. The Joker is gonna be done very realistically & treated like a real-life psychopath so it should be great fun but I'm wondering how they are gonna keep this available to little kids if they make him too "real"...hmmm.

I Believe in Harvey Dent For District Attorney
A brand-new graphic from THE DARK KNIGHT Batman #2 Movie! Here's a campaign poster for Harvey Dent as District Attorney for Gotham City....I'd vote for him! Actually it's Aaron Eckhart in character for his new film role...pretty cool huh? I'm so excited about this new Batman Movie Sequel & can't wait till it hits the big screen. I might be one of those movie nerds who camp out overnight, ha ha. I hope to see some kind of DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Trailer soon...heck yeah!

Cool Batman Vintage Sixties Toys: Japan Robot & MARX Bat-Phone!
Here's 2 photos recently sent in by a loyal BAT-BLOG reader who really loves the 1960's toys. He wrote, " Hey BAT-BLOG, I love this website man & visit daily! My favorite photos are the ones of the cool Batman toys made in the sixties so I thought I would contribute some, hope you post them! One is a RARE 1960's Tin Toy Robot from Japan & the other is the, now classic, 1966 Batman Hot-Line Bat-Phone made by MARX." Wow! Thanks, Gary!! Both of these pieces of Bat-Memorabilia are extremely RARE & we're actually honored to show them off for you, ha ha! Seriously, these are extremely cool & we appreciate the pix! Thanks again & please feel free to send in any other photos. If any other readers have pictures of some of their favorite Bat-Nostalgia then we want to invite you to send them in to us too!! VINTAGE BAT-COPTER TOYS Holy Helicopter, Batman!
Shown up above are just 4 examples of the many different types of Bat-Copter ( Batman Helicopter ) Toys that were made through out the years. The 1st is the most RARE & probably the most beautiful. This Bat-Copter was made by Irwin Plastic Toy Co in 1966. It's black injection-molded ( hollow ) plastic with stickers that have great graphics. This baby is super hard-to-find in MINT shape because as you can well of guessed it got pretty trashed during play time! The next item is kind of small & cute but it's the Die-Cast Bat-Copter made by Corgi. This one was part of a play set with other bat-vehicles. It was made in 1979. The 3rd piece of Bat-Nostalgia is the SUPER POWERS Bat-Copter made by Kenner & was scaled for the action figures. Looking at the box with both English & French languages it was released in Canada. The last bit of Bat-Memorabilia is the other Bat-Copter made for the COMIC ACTION HEROES Action Figures made by Mego. These figures were smaller & the cool thing about this helicopter is that it had a device to make it actually fly. Just rip the cord & off it goes! We hope you have enjoyed seeing a few pieces of Bat-History. If you possess a Bat-Copter that's different then send us a photo!

Batman GOTHAM POST NEWSPAPER Graffiti Street Art Stickers
Carrie, a friend to the BAT-BLOG, sent us this recent photo showing what a graffiti artist is doing n her hometown. The artist has made stickers he uses to vandalize newspaper vending machine into looking like they are the GOTHAM POST Newspaper of Batman's Gotham City. Oh my god! That is so freakin' cool, we love it! Thanks for the nice pic Carrie :)
Detective Comics # 58 Classic 1940's Golden Age Comic Book Cover
Here's what the cover to Detective Comics # 58 looked like back in the 1940's. Wow! Readers who were around during the "Golden Age" were lucky....this is a masterpiece of ART! People today laugh about 10¢ covers being so cheap but I bet that was a LOT of money to a little kid in those days! We try to cover ALL the many aspects of Batman Memorabilia here at the BAT-BLOG so if you have any ideas for different material or photos you want to share then please send them in.

Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!
It's Wednesday again & that means FREE "Batman Wallpaper" at the BAT-BLOG that you can use as a background for a MySpace layout or add as wallpaper to your desktop. The 1st one is an awesome graphic by artist Alex Ross. I like how his "gimmick" is that he draws/paints superheroes as if they are true-life real people. His attention to detail is also pretty cool. The next picture is a crisp black & white graphic. It's the newer modern version of Batman with the simple plain bat-symbol on the chest ( I miss the yellow oval ) & the "Army-Style" Bat-Belt....cool. Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Batman Wallpapers. I mean, there's like fifty of 'em!! We also have a "Batman Wallpaper web page" that has about 40 more, the link is on the top-right side of the batblog.

GOTH BATMAN BABY Custom Art Doll on eBay
A while back I was goofing around on eBay looking at the current Batman Memorabilia being offered. While there I came across this extremely weird, but very well-made, "Batman Baby" Custom Doll. I feel bad now because I wanted to give the artist credit & mention his/her name but I forgot to bookmark it & much later discovered that all I had saved was this picture. Sorry Readers, if you search on eBay using the words "Custom Batman" you might be able to find more work from this person. In the mean time please enjoy the photos. Click on the photo for a way larger, more detailed, version. I think it's really cool because it looks so scary, it's also sort-of "Goth". The detailing is pretty good. Like I said, I wish I could have given the artIst credit because they deserve it...it's a work of ART!

DC Comics Superheroes Vintage 1970's Toys Comic Book Ad
Remember this famous Comic Book Ad? ( Click the small picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). In the 1970's there was a really cool catalog you could get thru the mail that sold a lot of really obscure toys & superhero items you couldn't find anywhere else. I used to get these in the mail & dream about buying stuff. Yes, I was a Bat-Nerd even then, ha ha. This vintage ad shows some really cool Batman Memorabilia. The 1st is a RARE Bat-Plane Toy that came with a launcher. Next up is the classic Bat-Belt with accessories: Bat-Ray, Bat-Cuffs, Bat-Grappler, Bat-Walkie-Talkie, & Vintage 70's Batman Logo Bat-Buckle!! There are also some cool Beach Towels that are pretty RARE to find now. I really want the one with Batman & Robin running thru Gotham City with the Bat-Signal in the sky. The last cool things are the different Mego Action Figure Dolls & Mego Green Arrow Car! That car is now an icon in the Mego collecting world for it's rarity. If you have one you should donate it to a museum! The dolls included Superman, Batman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Shazam, & Robin. They were only $3.79 with 59¢ postage!

Batman & Robin Memorabilia from Argentina & Brasil
Foreign Batman & Robin Memorabilia is some of my favorite stuff. Mainly because it's so RARE & also because it's usually really weird!! I mean that in a good way, it's just strange seeing Batman items with foreign language on it....it's way too cool! The 1st item is a RARE Hot Wheels die-cast car set from Brasil. This was a "Three-Pack" with Batmobile, Joker's car, & Bane's car. The Joker one is really awesome, nice paint job. The 2nd item is a ROBIN Comic Book published in Argentina. It's titled, "Robin, El Muchacho Maravilloso". I like the vintage-style graphics & the cool Robin Logo. Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more foreign Batman Memorabilia.
