Kevin's PINK BATMAN Pop Art Masterpiece!

OK, I guess this is sort of a "personal post" because I just have to brag about our friend Kevin Stark who created this amazing piece of PINK BATMAN art. This thing is crazy! It was made in different pieces, from a thick foam-board material, that gives it a wonderful 3-D quality. Plus, take a look at it, it's "bejeweled"...see the encrusted jewels adoring the "flame" areas, Oh yeah!

New BATMAN POP ART - Acrylic Paintings

This is just a quick post to show-off some really fun artwork from a friend named "Mike Destructive". We have featured his art here before at the Bat-Blog & thought it would be nice to see some fresh stuff. Here are 2 brand-new Pop Art Style Paintings he has done recently. I love the colors in both of them. They also feature "Batman" so you know we totally dig them...enjoy!

Batman BAT-MITE Pop Art Painting by Javier Hernandez

BAT-MITE! OK, I just saw this painting the other night & I have to sort of show it off...mainly because it's done by done by my good buddy Javier Hernandez and it's pretty cool. He did it as a donation for the Shel Dorf Artist Fund. Shel Dorf recently died & he was responsible for creating the San Diego Comic Con some 40 years ago. Now, you might have heard of Javier before. He does an indy comic book called "El Muerto", it's cool. Check out his website, right HERE!

Original 1960's BATMAN POP ART OIL PAINTING By Bob Kane!

WOW! The Bat-Blog is known for sharing a ton of news about Batman but this is actual BAT-HISTORY right here! The image you see up above is a photo of the original Batman Pop Art Oil Painting "done by" Bob Kane, the co-creator of Batman. The pics were sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Rick, who actually owns this amazing piece of art ( Be sure to click on it for a larger, sharper, image ). He explained how he got it in this email, he wrote:

In 1966, after the television show hit big, Bob Kane did a series of 12 large pop art oil paintings. This is one of them and, I think, the best of the bunch. I saw about 8 of them in the early 90's when Kane exhibited them at an art gallery in Beverly Hills. Mine was owned by Cary Grant for 20 years and hung in his guest bathroom. I've owned it since 1987.

Oh man! I've known about these paintings for years & it's so cool to actually meet someone who owns one. I've never seen one in real life, only publicity photos. To publish an actual photo of this on my blog is a total honor, no kidding, it's great! Thank you Rick for sharing your story.

Leon's 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW HOMAGE Pop Art Paintings!

OK, Does everybody remember when we showed our friend Leon's amazing 1966 Batman Bat-Suit Costume he made & the cool manikin he found to display it? He even went on to create a wall mural as a background for the thing, it's really cool! Well, it looks like he hasn't stopped there! Shown here are 2 extremely awesome POP ART Paintings that have been done with imagery from the classic 60's TV Series. One of them looks like a color photo showing Adam West & Burt Ward in costume on the set. The 2nd one is an image from the animated intro to the TV show. They're both really well done. Thanks Leon for keeping us up to date on this project, you guys are doing super-great stuff here!

1966 BATMAN FINE ART PRINTS From 3-D Monster!

Shown up above are some crazy-groovy art prints made by a Graphic Designer named Dan Bru. He really loves unusual pieces of pop culture from the 1960's & 70's especially Old Toys, Horror Movies, Vintage TV Shows, Tin Robots, etc...just about anything "retro". So you know he has to do a few pieces of art that are about the 1966 Batman TV Show! Let's take a look at them. The 1st one is kinda weird, but in a good way. It's a parody of the graphics from an old Vintage Poster for the '66 Batman Movie. Adam West is shown wearing RED tights which is pretty groovy because that's how he looked on some foreign movie posters. The next 2 are an homage to the famous 1966 LIFE Magazine Cover featuring Adam West. The 1st one is pretty straight-forward & looks just like the original, very cool. The 2nd one shows different color variations & looks very much like Pop Art done by Andy Warhol. Johnny Romeo's BATMAN POP ART Acrylic & Oil Paintings

I just discovered a Pop Artist in Australia who, right now, is totally inspired by Batman & other comic book imagery. His name is Johnny Romeo. He's mainly a painter but also makes prints & books. Judging his artwork you can easily see that he is inspired by both Jean Michel Basquiat & Andy Warhol. But I do have to admit that he's a great colorist. Plus these paintings do look pretty cool! New BATMAN, ROBIN, & JOKER T-Shirts To Keep An Eye Out For!

I'm always trying to keep up with Batman T-Shirts Designs & when I come across some that I think are pretty cool I like to share them. Here are 3 new ones that I think are very well done. Now the 1st one is my favorite because it's a graphic of what the original 1966 TOPPS BATMAN Bubble Gum Card Package ( Wax Wrapper ) looked like. That real-life piece of Bat-memorabilia has always been very special to me because I really loved these Trading Cards as a very little kid! The next one has more of a "Pop Art" feel about it & I'm actually trying to figure out who's comic book art they used. I'm thinking it might be the artist Dick Giordano but I'm not sure. Either way, it's the "Silver Age" Batman that I have always liked with the blue / gray bat-suit & yellow-oval bat-symbol logo. For the last example I included this one with split-faces of Batman & The Joker. The reason is because it totally reminds me of all the T-Shirts that were produced during the 1989 Batman Movie craze. ZOTHAM CITY! A New Batman-Inspired Pop Art Painting

A friend to the Bat-Blog, named "Mike Destructive", sent us this photo of a painting he did recently. It is a Batman-Inspired piece titled "Zotham City"...because Batman, Robin, and The Joker are all Zombies!! ( I like how you can see the Joker's brains, ha ha! ) It has sort of a retro-groovy 1970's feel about it. Just click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, version. BATMAN-Themed POP ART PAINTINGS By J.R. Williams

Over at my Facebook account I have a friend named J.R. Williams. Recently he loaded a few pictures in his gallery showing some recent artwork he did for an art show. Two of them were "Batman-related" so I thought I would share them here. They look like paintings done in watercolor. The coloring is done very well. I know Bat-Blog Readers will love them because they feature Batman! I really really like these & every time I see them I totally crack-up, they're hilarious! Original BATMAN POP ART PAINTING By Doug Bloodworth

I have a friend named Ducki who lives in Florida. There's a local artist there named DOUG BLOODWORTH & while checking out his website she came across this one piece of artwork that she knew I would like. It's a Pop Art Painting with a scene showing a Batman Comic Book & all the fixings for a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich ( click on it for a larger picture with more detail ). It's done in a sort of photo-realistic style & is totally awesome! Doug is really talented. He sort of bounces around in styles, mainly Western Art & Pop. ORIGINAL BATMAN ART BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

This week I thought I would post 2 totally unique Batman Wallpaper Backgrounds that I bet you will not find anywhere else! The 1st one is an example of a Pop Art Painting that I came across on the internet. After saving the picture I forgot to get the name of the artist so if anyone knows him please have him contact me. I seriously love this piece of work & it also kind of cracks me up! It shows Batman & Robin as Zombie Monsters...I mean, you can't get anymore awesome than that! The 2nd Batman Wallpaper was done by an artist friend named Sean Hartter. If you're a regular Bat-Blog Reader then you will probably recognize his style. In this one he did a portrait of The Dark Knight. The thing I like best about it is that it's kinda hard to tell if he's the "Modern Batman" or the "1940's Movie Serial" version. OK, obviously it's the newer version but the colors & grainyness kinda remind me of an older era. Plus, it was exclusively done just for this blog, so that's great! ( Thanks Sean ).

BATMAN POP ART PIN-UPS "Wacky WALLPAPER Wednesday"

We post totally brand-new & unique Batman-Themed Desktop Wallpapers here at the Bat-Blog every single Wednesday. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday™", ha ha! OK, I know the name is dumb but it's kinda catchy & people remember it easily! This week I thought I would go with a "Pop Art Pin-Up" theme. The 1st one is a re-colored wallpaper of an original painting I did a few years ago. It's an image of Batman kissing a girl. Recently I was goofing around on the internet & saw a device on a blog that showed their recent visitors ( shown below ). It featured people's avatars & their logistic locations. There was a guy from Australia who had used my artwork has his avatar. It was a total shock for me to see this! There's a theory that says "once an image is on the web that it exists forever" because people take it & put it someplace else, then somebody else gets it, & so on...WOW! This was pretty funny for me to see my own artwork, ha ha! OK, sorry to go off, back to the wallpapers. The 2nd & 3rd backgrounds are a black & white publicity photograph of Yvonne Craig as a super-cute "Pin-Up Girlie" model. Of course we all know her as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl from the 1966 Batman TV Show. People have different desktop set-ups so I thought I would make 2 of her, please choose whichever is better for you.

THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Advertising Banners and Billboards

Recently the Bat-Blog has been receiving a lot of e-mail from people who are totally excited about some movie called The Dark Knight. It sounds pretty cool so I might have to check in to it, ha ha! Anyway, I wanna thank everybody who wrote, especially the 3 people who attached these 3 awesome TDK-related photos they shot in their hometowns. The 1st one is a HUGE Advertising Banner in Times Square & it was big enough that I could make it into a BATMAN WALLPAPER. So, be sure to click on that one for the larger image you can use as a desktop background. The 2nd photo is really neat too. It's an Advertising Banner on the side of a bus. Not sure where it's from but it looks cool! The 3rd example is really wonderful for 2 reasons. First, it's a great picture of a large "Joker" banner but also, it shows some outdoor mural art done by Keith Haring. Haring was a famous Pop Artist from the 1980's who also did some graffiti art. See that small "cube" with bright colors just under the Joker picture? That's Haring! This is also in NYC. If you, the reader, have any cool photos like this then please send them in. THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Batman-Themed Art Show at PLAN 9 TATTOO and ART GALLERY

This Saturday, July 19th, around 7:00pm at the PLAN 9 TATTOO and ART GALLERY there will be a special Batman-themed art show titled "THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS". The Plan9 Art Gallery is located in Meriden, CT. The address is 351 W. Main Street. Basically they have gathered many different artist's original art work, from all over the US, to celebrate the new film. It sounds like quite an event & I'm just a little upset that it's too far away for me to attend, ha ha! Sounds like a good time. Shown here is just a small amount of the artwork available. The quality & diversity of fine art they'll be showing, all of it Batman or Joker related, should be pretty cool to see.
