For the Batman Wallpaper graphics this week I thought I would go with a retro theme! The 1st one is a new image drawn by a famous comic book artist named Darwyn Cooke. It's the classic 1966 Batmobile car (with Batman and Robin) done in a clean, yet simple, black & white style that I really like & hope you enjoy. The next one is an iconic image from the 1970's. For the Bat-Blog readers who live on the east coast I thought I would do this post to remind them that the annual NEW YORK COMICON COMIC BOOK CONVENTION is on April 18th-20th, 2008. This year they have a ton of guests that are "Batman-related". They include ( in no certain order ) : Mike Mignola, Carmine Infantino, Joe Kubert, Grant Morrison, Alex Ross, Frank Miller, Neal Adams, Adam Kubert, Andy Kubert, Jim Lee, Denny O'Neal, Steve Rude, Darwyn Cooke, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, & probably a few others I missed! The guest list is HUGE! Also there will be three exclusive Batman toys. I featured 2 of them in a previous post ( scroll way down ) but shown here is the just-released Special Edition Comic Book Convention Exclusive "Tech Suit Mr.Freeze" action figure from Mattel ( Booth # 1547 ). I think this figure is really great! This is an awesome event that I highly recommend you going to, especially for the chance to get some sketches and/or autographs from these classic Batman writers & artists. I just thought I would give a shout out to all my readers who live in or near San Francisco, California that on February 22nd to the 24th ( Friday thru Sunday ) will be this year's WONDERCON 2008!! This year the comic book convention is located at Moscone Center South & it will be a comicon show all Bat-Fans will NOT want to miss! First, they will have Darwyn Cooke & Bruce Timm introducing the new Exclusive World Premier Movie Trailer for the JUSTICE LEAGUE: NEW FRONTIER Animated Film Cartoon! As we all know Bruce Timm worked on Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Then, he's worked on many other projects including Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. In 2007, he produced, co-wrote and co-directed Warner Bros. Animation DVD , Superman Doomsday. Other "Batman Stars" include Jim Lee & Tim Sale. Jim Lee is a comics legend & is currently working on the DC comic book "All-Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder". He also did the HUSH Batman Series. Tim Sale, of course, was the artist on the now-famous Batman graphic novel "The Long Halloween". Other comic book artists attending will be Sergio Aragones, Herb Trimpe, Kurt Busiek, Mike Choi, Becky Cloonan, Terry Dodson, Mark Evanier, David Mack, Terry Moore, & many others. Also, available for autographs will be Noel Neill ( 1950's Superman TV's Lois Lane ), Herbert Jefferson Jr. ( "Boomer" of the 70's Battlestar Galactica ), Peter Mayhew ( Chewbacca from Star Wars ), & way too many others to mention! Here's the brand-new trailer for the DC Comics / Warner Brothers Animated feature JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE NEW FRONTIER. It's gonna be directed by Bruce Timm & is based on the graphic novel by Darwyn Cooke.
DC DIRECT has finally released the current THE NEW FRONTIER Action Figures Series 2 designed by Darwyn Cooke. Each figure stands about 6 1/2" tall & features multiple points of articulation with a base. In this set there are Batman, Martian Manhunter, Dr. Fate, & The Flash. Of course these figures are from the new Animated Movie & the previous Graphic Novel. I seriously love the Vintage "Retro Look" of these characters. What I have seen on this cartoon, mainly the trailers ( see earlier Bat-Blog posts ), is that this is gonna be a very exciting event for Silver-Age Comic Book Fans. Darwyn Cooke is a really great artist but the nice thing is you can tell that he really loves all these old DC Characters & it shows. Warner Brothers Animation and DC Comics are set to release the all-new original animated movie titled JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE NEW FRONTIER on February 26, 2008. Based on the graphic novel by Darwyn Cooke, Justice League: The New Frontier is the story of the creation of the Justice League. Here's a list of the voice actors they have so far: Neil Patrick Harris, Kyra Sedgwick, David Boreanaz, Jeremy Sisto, Lucy Lawless, Brooke Shields, Kyle MacLachlan, and Miguel Ferrer! Here's an incredible mini-documentary on the making of th new film. Now, I know it's not TOTAL Batman, but he is in it! Plus I love the artwork of Darwyn Cooke. Oh yeah, Bruce Timm ( Batman: The Animated Series ) is one of the producers...so ya know it's gonna be real good! If the video gets choppy just hit the pause button for a little bit, then hit play.
