We Want The BATGIRL : YEAR ONE Animated DC Universe Movie! Here is a LINK to a petition that will be directed towards Warner Home Video, Inc. to rethink their decision to cancel the development and production of Batgirl: Year One. In a recent interview Bruce Timm stated something to the effect of, "We were developing and hoping to get started on a 'Batgirl' film based on 'Year One,' but because of 'Wonder Woman’s' slow sales start, that won’t be happening now." Bruce Timm To Receive 2009 Winsor McCay Award ( Batman: The Animated Series )

ASIFA-Hollywood has announced that Bruce Timm has been named one of the winners of the 2009 Winsor McCay Awards, granted in recognition for career contributions to the field of animation. The recipients will receive their trophies at the 2010 Annie Awards scheduled for February 6, 2010. Of course Mr. Timm is most know for his Art Direction in Batman: The Animated Series. Being that B:TAS is the VERY BEST Cartoon in the History of Animation, this award is well deserved! Congratulations Bruce Timm.

BATMAN as SANTA CLAUS Holiday Christmas Graphics

A friend to the Bat-Blog sent these very cool "Batman as Santa Claus" xmas pictures he wanted to share ( Thanks Kevin ). He explains that he "loves both Batman & Christmas" and that he got these images in a portfolio of Bruce Timm's artwork. Timm, of course, was the director & designer for Batman: The Animated Series. That's why these graphics have a "cartoon look" about them...they're AWESOME!

Custom Art: CATWOMAN SCULPTURE on eBay!

Meeeeooowww! Here's something I came across on eBay & thought was pretty cool. It's a custom-made "Maquette" Art Sculpture of Catwoman in a sexy pose. It's modeled after the artwork of Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series ( shown below ). The artist's name is Beverly Gilroy & she works for Hourglass studios. Purrrrfect!

One of our readers named Peter sent us this awesome picture of a Harley Quinn Sketch done by Bruce Timm. We all know her as The Joker's girlfriend & she's a great character! This guy was responsible for creating "the look" of the, now classic, Batman: The Animated Series. It appears that our friend had this wonderful piece of art properly framed & matted, that's cool! BATMAN TATTOO ART: Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, & Catwoman Tattoos

One of our Bat-Blog Readers, named Peter, sent us these amazing photos of his 2 Batman-related Tattoos & they're AWESOME! Extremely well done with sharp lines & nice coloring. Basically it's the "GOTHAM GIRLS" done in the artwork-style of Bruce Timm from Batman: The Animated Series. On one arm he has the Catwoman leaping through the air & on the other arm is a graphic showing Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn together. I have always loved that Classic TV Cartoon & think this is a great choice for tattoo art. Thank you Peter for sending these wonderful photos. WONDERCON Comic Book Convention February 22 - 24th, 2008

I just thought I would give a shout out to all my readers who live in or near San Francisco, California that on February 22nd to the 24th ( Friday thru Sunday ) will be this year's WONDERCON 2008!! This year the comic book convention is located at Moscone Center South & it will be a comicon show all Bat-Fans will NOT want to miss! First, they will have Darwyn Cooke & Bruce Timm introducing the new Exclusive World Premier Movie Trailer for the JUSTICE LEAGUE: NEW FRONTIER Animated Film Cartoon! As we all know Bruce Timm worked on Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Then, he's worked on many other projects including Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. In 2007, he produced, co-wrote and co-directed Warner Bros. Animation DVD , Superman Doomsday. Other "Batman Stars" include Jim Lee & Tim Sale. Jim Lee is a comics legend & is currently working on the DC comic book "All-Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder". He also did the HUSH Batman Series. Tim Sale, of course, was the artist on the now-famous Batman graphic novel "The Long Halloween". Other comic book artists attending will be Sergio Aragones, Herb Trimpe, Kurt Busiek, Mike Choi, Becky Cloonan, Terry Dodson, Mark Evanier, David Mack, Terry Moore, & many others. Also, available for autographs will be Noel Neill ( 1950's Superman TV's Lois Lane ), Herbert Jefferson Jr. ( "Boomer" of the 70's Battlestar Galactica ), Peter Mayhew ( Chewbacca from Star Wars ), & way too many others to mention! OK, Not to brag or anything, but here at the Bat-Blog we're sorta famous for our Batman Themed Desktop Wallpapers, ha ha! So, at random, I thought I would post 2 of my favorites. Here are some images from the, now Super-Classic, TV Cartoon BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. The 1st one shows The Batman crashing through a window to attack the Joker. I love this "action scene". Now, since I knew I was gonna post this Joker picture I knew I had to also feature his girlfriend, Harley Quinn! That graphic is from a comic book convention Sketch done by Bruce Timm, the famous director & graphic artist! Video: JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE NEW FRONTIER Future DC Animated Cartoon Movie

Warner Brothers Animation and DC Comics are set to release the all-new original animated movie titled JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE NEW FRONTIER on February 26, 2008. Based on the graphic novel by Darwyn Cooke, Justice League: The New Frontier is the story of the creation of the Justice League. Here's a list of the voice actors they have so far: Neil Patrick Harris, Kyra Sedgwick, David Boreanaz, Jeremy Sisto, Lucy Lawless, Brooke Shields, Kyle MacLachlan, and Miguel Ferrer! Here's an incredible mini-documentary on the making of th new film. Now, I know it's not TOTAL Batman, but he is in it! Plus I love the artwork of Darwyn Cooke. Oh yeah, Bruce Timm ( Batman: The Animated Series ) is one of the producers...so ya know it's gonna be real good! If the video gets choppy just hit the pause button for a little bit, then hit play. Batman Comic Book Art Convention Sketches

A great way to get original art featuring Batman is to go to comic book conventions. There are many all over the country with the largest being the San Diego Comicon & the New York City Show. Here are some great examples of Batman Art. The 1st one is by Steve Lieber. The artwork is pretty expressive, nice! The 2nd one, of Harley Quinn, is a personal favorite because it's done by Bruce Timm of Batman:The Animated Series fame. The last one is a beautiful example of pin-up art with Batgirl. Here's the original comic book art for the cover to Batman Adventures Annual #2 by Bruce Timm. Now, the weird thing is, I was looking at the original art & the actual comic book cover & they are kind of different. I mean, check out the position of Batman's legs, weird huh?! ( Click the picture above for a larger photo ). As all Bat-Fans already know Bruce Timm was seriously involved in the classic TV Cartoon BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES & that's why he's a favorite artist. We love his clean simple lines & art deco style....great stuff!
