I recently came across a wonderful blog called "Sewing Cafe". It's a personal site of an Artist named Lynne Williams. There, she posts a lot of "How To" Articles & Tutorials on Craft Sewing Projects. This girl is an expert at making "Adam West-Style" Costumes. Just like the one seen on the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. The cool thing is she shares a lot of this information on her website. So, if you're in the market to create a cool new bat-suit, check it out! You can visit her site by clickingHERE!
Here's an extremely wonderful photo sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named David. It shows his beautiful one month old Son Mason sporting one of the onesies that Mason's Mom picked up from Kmart. The great thing, it's made to look like a Batman Bat-Suit Costume! Thank you David for sharing this very sweet family moment. Your Mason IS a true Superhero!! I mean, "He is The Dark Knight!"
Here's a wonderful vintage photo from the 1960's. I think the actual year might have been either 1966 or '67. It shows Adam West as Batman ( in his TV Show Bat-Suit Costume ) riding in the back of a car during the Aqua Fest Parade in Austin, Texas! Oh man, I bet every little kid in the audience totally freaked-out on that day, ha ha! Thanks Paul for sending this rare pic. It's a very interesting piece of Bat-History.
Yesterday we showed you a picture of the new bat-suit that Batman will be wearing in the comic books but today we have a way better example ( Click on it for a larger size ). This picture shows the full-length figure of the Dark Knight & it gives you a way better idea of how the suit will look. I mean, we get to see the total costume as a whole. This is the original cover art for the first issue of "Batman, Inc." & was drawn by Yanick Paquet. I think this graphic is pretty awesome & would make an excellent poster. So, what do YOU think about it? I'm asking because this picture is a better example & gives us all a greater idea on the final look. Plus, I was just thinking: Shouldn't this be called a "uniform" instead of a "costume"? I mean, it is what he "wears to work", ha!
This is pretty big comic book news, maybe not, but DC Comics announced the other day that Batman is going to get a whole new look. Here's a sneak peek at the latest version of his bat-suit (or costume). It looks like they have brought back the classic "yellow oval" chest emblem, that's cool. It also looks like he has a new utility belt in a light gray, almost white, color. So, I'm now curious. What do YOU think about it? Please leave some comments.
Here are some pictures of our friend Paul in his amazing Batman bat-suit costume. He belongs to a group of amateur costumers in Brisbane, Australia called Gotham's Finest. They like to attend charity events and help raise funds for worthwhile causes. Recently they attended the "World's Greatest Shave" for the Leukemia Foundation of Queensland. They had an absolutely fantastic day, AND helped raise funds for research into finding a cure for leukemia at the same time...that's AWESOME! My thanks goes out to Paul & his Gotham's Finest group for sending us the fun pictures but, more importantly, thanks for helping raise money for such a wonderful charity!
Here's some very interesting photos sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Leon. He has this life-size manikin to display his extremely well-detailed Batman Costume. Of course, it's the "Adam West" bat-suit version from the 1966 TV Show. WOW! The costume looks great on this thing, very cool! Thank you Leon for sharing the pics & great job on the manikin too. I have always wanted one of these fully-detailed costumes. But they're so expensive to put together that I will have to wait, ha ha! ( Yeah, I'm jealous & kinda bitter! )
I love getting e-mails & the chance to meet Batman Fans from all over the world. It's so cool to me that Batman is so popular in many different countries. It really says a lot about what a great character he is. Like, this morning, I got a message from a Bat-Blog Reader named Kai who sent these very interesting pieces of Batman art that he did recently. Kai is from Finland & I gotta say that I'm totally jealous he lives there, ha! His artwork is pretty good too & it's "The Dark Knight" movie-version of the character. It shows Batman ( Christian Bale ) wearing his "Sonar-Vision" Bat-Suit & carrying that gun he used to place charges on that building while he was in Hong Kong. That's cool! The 2nd pic is his original drawing & then the 1st one is the colored version he did in Photoshop. Kai, you did a very wonderful job on both of these. Thank you so much for sending them. I know a lot of people will really enjoy them. I want to invite all creative people from all over the globe to share their pics. It can be anything Batman-related: Art, Toy Collections, Tattoos, Graphics, Costumes, etc...Thanks!
I got an e-mail tonight from a good friend who sent these cool pics ( click on the drawing up above for a larger picture ). They're some sketches of a "Batman Bat-Suit" he says he's going to make! His name is "BroHawk" & he's an extremely talented graphic artist ( mostly comic books ). So, you know this thing is gonna be awesome! I'm actually kind of excited about it & hope he sends us some photos later...can't wait to see it. Thanks to BroHawk for sending the cool artwork & hey, get busy!
Awhile back, here at the Bat-Blog, we featured a photo of an awesome BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Custom Bat-Suit Costume made by our friend Paul. He lives in Australia. Well, recently he & a few of his friends went to a convention event in Brisbane, all dressed-up in Batman related Costumes! We have all the major characters covered: Batman, Robin, Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Two-Face, Commissioner James "Jim" Gordon, The Riddler, & one other character who's name I forget at this moment ( Sorry, is it Anarchy? ). The great thing was they were able to get a few really wonderful photos during this time ( Please be sure to click on these pics for larger, more detailed, versions ). Now if I got the info correct, this 1st photo ( close-up shot ) was taken on the 2nd day & a couple of people changed costumes. But the other 2 pics were shot on the 1st day when they were really goofing around! The shot of them all walking towards you. That is a parody of the opening credits sequence of the JUSTICE LEAGUE cartoon ( imagine them in slow motion, ha ha ). The next one is a really famous parody that everyone should recognize right away. It's The Beatles ABBEY ROAD Album Cover!! OK, I really love all these costume pics but the homage to The Beatles just totally cracks me up! Ha Ha Ha, it's so GREAT! I wanna thank Paul for sharing these fun photos with my readers. Thanks Paul, everybody is gonna totally love these. I also wanna send a shout-out to all of your friends who got dressed up...you guys all look great & your costumes are awesome too...even the girl who's character I can't remember the name of because I'm totally stupid, ha ha! Oh man, I wish I had some of these for Halloween this year!
Here's a new Batman product that's been out a little while that some of you might wanna get. It's a Batman Costume Clothing Set for a Teddy Bear! Yeah, you read that right...Teddy Bear Clothes! Actually, it's kinda cool & it's the bat-suit version from the Dark Knight movie. They sell these at the Build-a-Bear stores ( You can find at your local Shopping Mall ). We did a post about this along time ago when they 1st came out & they're still selling them...WOW! I guess they must be selling pretty good if they're keeping them around, ha ha! I decided to do a re-post on this because a new Bat-Blog Reader, named Paul, sent these really GREAT PICS & they're way better than the ones I had before. Thank you Paul, I appreciate that!
I was pleasantly surprised the other night to receive an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader named Lee who lives in the UK. He had some really wonderful photos of the original BAT-POD Motorcycle & a few Prop Costumes from THE DARK KNIGHT Batman movie. He explained in his letter, "Hi Tom, my name is Lee, I'm from Manchester, England and I am a huge BATMAN fan. Last year I was lucky enough to get a glimpse (and a cheeky feel) of the Bat-Pod and I was also lucky to see all the costumes in glass display units. I have been looking at your website for about 2 years now and find it really interesting, especially being a collector myself. Also once I get all my collection together I will send you some pics. I have some really wicked stuff like Hot Toys, Model Kits, Action Figures, and a few really rare items. Anyway, keep up the brilliant website! I have attached some pictures of that day I went to see the costumes and Bat-Pod. The picture with the guy in a white t-shirt & brown hat is me!" Cool, very cool! Thank you for sending these great pics Lee & also for the kind words about this blog! Getting to meet Bat-Fans from all over the world is really exciting for me. On a side note I am totally jealous you got to see the real Bat-Pod & these cool costumes, that's a Super-RARE opportunity! It's really neat that Warner Bros displayed this stuff so far away, in the UK. So tell me honestly, did you totally want to steal the Bat-Pod? I know I would have, Ha Ha!
Now this isn't Gotham City, so what is Batman doing in Toronto, Canada? Apparently he needed to earn some money to pimp up the Batcave, and what better place than outside the Toronto Eaton Center to do it!
A good friend to the Bat-Blog, named Brian, told me his son is Batman. I didn't believe him at first but then he showed me this photographic proof, right here! WOW! He is Batman!! He is the Caped Crusader, The Dark Knight! Sorry I didn't believe you Brian & thanks for sharing the awesome photo, this kid is super-cool!
Last May 2nd was FREE COMIC BOOK DAY at every friendly neighborhood Comic Book Shop in the USA. Included in the list was GROUND ZERO COMICS in Tyler, Texas. But the cool thing was they had BATMAN there! OK, not the "Official Batman" like Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Adam West, or others. But the next best thing...our friend, Deacon Bill! Bill wore a really excellent "1966 Batman TV Show" style costume with cape & cowl! He even had the cool Bat-Belt to complete the really well-made "Adam West" Bat-Suit! So, I wanna thank Bill for sending me the fun photo & also wanna invite everyone else who may have some "Bat-Moment Photos" to share then send them here. Remember, the Bat-Blog is all about FUN! Oh yeah, and toy collecting. and enjoying the cartoons, and...
Batman Action Figure Collectors will need to be on the look out for this brand new series of BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT Movie Masters figures. The set of four will include: Two-Face, Joker Thug ( Bank Robber Goon ), The Jail Cell Joker, & a very weird "Batman Proto Suit". I'm really liking these, they're very cool!
There is a brand-new company out there now that has just emerged that will be making Official Licensed Movie Replica Outerwear from the Batman Begins & The Dark Knight movies. The company is UNIVERSAL DESIGNS & they will be making Movie Replica Leather Jackets, Leather Pants, & Boots that totally look like the original Batman Bat-Suit Costumes worn by Christian Bale in the 2 mentioned movies. They are sort of being marketed right now as both costumes & motorcycle gear...we'll see. The attention to detail sounds totally insane so I bet these will be pretty popular. Shown here are some of the blueprint-style graphics they present for a few products. There are a few more pictures like this at their website & of course as soon as they release anything we'll let you know. Right now there are not any pictures of the actual product because it's all in the "developmental stages". But overall it sounds like a really great concept. If you're curious be sure to visit their website, here's a link button:
Everybody is totally excited about the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: THE ARKHAM ASYLUM Video Game that's coming out soon by Eidos so I thought I would post these 2 Free Desktop Background Wallpapers. One of them features Killer Croc in all his awesomeness & the other has a cool visual of Joker, Batman's Bat-Suit Costume in detail, & the Batmobile Car. I'm totally drooling over this game & I really hope it turns out to be great, my fingers are crossed.
I love when people send personal photo expressing their love or respect of the Batman superhero character. It seems I have been getting a lot of those lately so that's great, keep 'em coming! This one is from a Bat-Blog Reader named Bill. His e-mail explains it a lot better than I can so here we go, "My name is Bill from Tyler, Texas. I am a lifelong BATFAN and collector. (Love your site!) I am also a Catholic Deacon. In October, my diocese held a Youth Ministry Rally called "Holy Households, Batman!" I spent an entire Saturday teaching and preaching to the kids dressed in my bat-suit! I was aided in this task by Robin and Catwoman. A photo of the Dark Deacon was sent to me, and I am passing it on. Holy Kodak Moment, Batman!" Wow Bill! The costume is awesome! Of course it's the 1966 TV Adam West version...very very cool! The Cowl, Cape, Gloves, Bat-Belt, Everything, looks extremely well done. I guess I need to explain the "black boxes" on people's faces though. That's just to respect the privacy of the people at the event. I don't mean anything by it except that & really the main focus of the photo is the super-great costume. Thanks again for sending the pic, very cool.
OK, I knew I had to put all these photos together because they sort of create a "theme" I like to call FUNNY BATMAN ANIMALS. The 1st photo cracks me up every time I see it! Looks like somebody dressed up their dog as Batman! I think these "Pet Costumes" are totally ridiculous but ya gotta admit they are kinda cute! The 2nd photo is very clever. Somebody make a "Custom My Little Pony" to look just like the "Heath Ledger Joker" from the Dark Knight Batman movie. The details are pretty good, especially the clothing. Hasbro should make one of these for real! The last photo is not a "custom toy", like the pony, but a real-life product you can buy for your Teddy Bear. There's a chain of stores in the US called "Build-A-Bear" where you go &, as a craft project, you stuff your very own teddy bear. They also sell outfits for your creations & one of them is the Batman Bat-Suit ( The Dark Knight version ). So, I hope somebody out there enjoys this wacky post! If you have any humor photos like this to share then please send them in today!
