Pete is trying to get into the Sculpture Business & is a totally Self-Taught Artist. Well, it only took me 1 micro-second to recognize that this is Jack Nicholson from the 1989 BATMAN Movie...So, that's a great start! When I woke up this morning I realized that I totally forgot to post a few BATMAN BACKGROUNDS yesterday for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday". Oh man, I'm such an idiot! So to make up for that here are a few that should be favorites for Fans of the 1989 BATMAN Movie. They both sort of revolve around the Actor Michael Keaton. In the 1st one we see him as Batman in the bat-suit costume. The 2nd one shows him as Bruce Wayne & we also get to see Jack Nicholson as The Joker. So, are these cool or what? I've always loved this movie & it's hard to think that it was 22 years ago when it came out. That makes me feel sort of old, ha ha!

HOT TOYS just announced the other day that they finally got the rights from Jack Nicholson to make the 1989 BATMAN Movie JOKER Figure so now they're going full steam on the project. Toy Collectors around the world already know the insane quality of these dolls, I mean Figures, and are drooling in anticipation! They're obviously going to make a BATMAN Figure ( Michael Keaton version ) but let's all hope they also produce a "BOB The Goon"!

In their own special ways both of these Actors did a very fine job... "Delicious!"
OMG! A Good Bat-Blog Citizen named Nick just sent us this incredibly awesome photo. He was visiting Planet Hollywood in Times Square in New York City where they have a HUGE Jack Nicholson JOKER Statue! WOW! The thing looks even larger than life-size ( as it should be ). Also, the face sculpt looks exactly like "Jack", that's very cool. Thank you to Nick for sharing the wonderful pic. I need to ask you to try & steal this thing for me. But then the problem would be, after you got it, you would probably want to keep it for yourself, ha ha!
I'm not quite sure if this photo is real or shopped but if it is an actual real-life pic then it is completely hilarious! Here's some guy holding out a pen & 8 X 10 photograph to Actor Jack Nicholson & asking for an autograph. The guy must not know anything about the different characters in the movies because it's NOT the "1989 Batman Movie" version of the Joker, that Jack played, in the photo, but it's the later Dark Knight movie "Heath Ledger" version. What?! Does he think that all Jokers are the same? I totally love the expression on Jack's face...like he's looking at a total moron & can't believe it, ha ha!
Ya' know, a lot of younger Batman Fans today totally forget ( or don't even know about ) how people back in 1989 went totally bat-crazy over Tim Burton's 1st Batman movie! I mean, it was almost equal to the craziness stirred-up by the 1977 Star Wars movie. People dressed-up like the characters, there were lines of people that went around the block, people camped-out for tickets for days, some theaters even dropped another movie so they could show "Batman" on more than one screen...it was crazy! Well, here's a funny vintage newspaper story I found on a website called "Fantastic Flashbacks". It shows a few Batman Movie Fans wearing THE JOKER make-up & costumes ( Jack Nicholson version ) at an opening in California. Now I plan to feature some more of this kind of news coverage from the past so if any readers have something similar then please let me know. Jack Nicholson was spotted sitting near home plate at the Phillies-Cubs game in a white NY Yankees cap. Fans gave him a pass because, well, he's Jack. The Phillie Phanatic came out on the field in a Batman costume and pretended to take on "The Joker"!

Today, June 23rd, 2009 is the 20th Anniversary of Tim Burton's 1989 BATMAN Movie starring Michael Keaton ( Bruce Wayne / Batman ) & Jack Nicholson ( The Joker )! WOW! 20 YEARS! You know, that actually makes me feel kinda old, ha ha! I totally remember when this film came out. It was sort of on the same level as Star Wars in the way it was such a HUGE cultural event. It seemed like the whole world went totally batty! The Bat-Symbol logo was literally everywhere! I mean, there was this giant flood of Bat-Merchandise, Memorabilia, T-Shirts, Action Figures, Toys, etc... For a Batman Toy Collector it was a great time to be alive! OK, I guess I need to explain the 2 graphics shown here. Well, they are both Batman 1989 Movie Desktop Wallpapers. They are some graphics I found that each have amazing images from the movie. I thought Bat-Blog Readers would enjoy them & maybe use them to honor the event. So, Please put these up on your desktop so you can remember that TODAY is the 20th Anniversary!!
Here are 2 really great videos recently put out by Warner Bros to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the 1989 Batman Movie. They are both sort of like a mini-documentary with one covering all the behind-the-scenes events & the other focuses on Jack Nicholson's Joker character. Anyway, I have always loved this classic Batman movie & seeing these stories are pretty interesting. It's kinda hard to believe this movie came out 20 years ago, kinda makes me feel old, ha ha!

OK, The new Batman video news right now is that Warner Bros is gonna release the 1989 BATMAN MOVIE on Blu-Ray for the 20th Anniversary Edition! It's hard to believe this movie has been out that long! Thinking about it kinda makes me feel old, ha ha. Of course we're talking about the classic '89 Tim Burton film with Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, & Jack Nicholson. Here's the deal: The official release date for retail stores is on May 5th, 2009 but you can pre-order it on March 31st, the end of this month. It's gonna come with a 50 page book that has script pages, excerpts from the movie, color photos, & a comic book adaptation by DC Comics. It will also have a Digital Copy you can download to your PC.
At the New York Comic Con 2009, on the Living Legends panel, Jerry Robinson, the creator of The Joker, talks in detail about how his Golden Age comic book creation came to be. He talks about his old friends Bill Finger & Bob Kane. Sorry the audio isn't very good but crank up your speakers & it should be fine. This guy is a National Treasure!
Here's a really funny video clip from the 1980's British Comedy TV Show SPITTING IMAGE. The show only aired for a short time in the USA but is now a cult classic. In this clip they did a parody of the "merchandising hype" of the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. They used special puppets that were extremely detailed & also perfect caricatures of the actors ( or politicians ) that they were making fun of. They used to do some skits with Ronald & Nancy Reagan that were pretty brutal! One last thing. This video was sent in by a friend to the Bat-Blog named Jeffery so I wanna thank him for that...This is hilarious, thanks!

Somebody noticed how close to the same thing the new DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Trailer ( Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale ) is to the 1989 BATMAN Movie Trailer ( Tim Burton, Michael Keaton ) one. The thing you should do is listen to the new one but just watch the old '89 version...FREAKY!
In a strange report from The Huffington Post, a very well-respected Political Blog, they featured this video of a real TV Commercial showing Jack Nicholson, in many different movie characters ( including The 1989 Batman Movie JOKER ), saying different things that relate to his approval of Hillary Clinton for President. At first I thought it was a joke or a fan-made trailer but it's the real deal. It's airing in certain cities & is kinda surreal.
