Here are 2 print advertisements that were printed on the back cover of a few comic books back in the day. They advertised a few food products that tied into the latest Batman movie, of the time, 1997's BATMAN AND ROBIN. I remember when these came out & even though I was NOT a big fan of the film, I still bought these for their boxes. I have always loved wacky food packaging like this. In hindsight I'm glad I did. This stuff is sort of strange now & kinda hard to find. In the future they should be pretty rare. The 1st ad is for the Batman & Robin Movie Kellogg's Pop-Tarts. The weird thing is that it only shows 3 boxes but there were actually 4. I think the one they didn't show was "Batgirl". Next, we see an old ad for MR. FREEZE Freezer Bars. The funny thing is that it was the actual name of the product even before the movie promotion. Seriously, see the Snowman? That's "Mr Freeze", ha! I guess that was the perfect tie-in. The graphics on this large box were actually pretty cool.
To quote the 80's Rock Band, The VAPORS, "I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so". This post was created to show a few examples of some beautiful 1966 BATMAN TV Show Theme Song Records from Japan. I love the combination of vintage graphics with Japanese lettering ( I like the 2nd one the best ). Plus, they're really hard to find. Now, after you drool over the pics then please check out the video too. It's the VAPORS singing their hit song, "Turning Japanese". Since I mentioned the band I knew I had to post it, ha ha! I know it's not "Batman-related" but it's a great song & you won't be able to get the tune out of your head all day long, ha!!
Today I am feeling totally exhausted, I got NO sleep last night, so this is going to be a very lazy posting, ha ha! I decided to post a few BATMAN WALLPAPERS you can use to brighten your desktop's background. But before you hate me, they're pretty cool and I think/hope you'll like them! The 1st one uses some graphics you can see on the new 1966 Bat-Boat Model kit by Polar Lights. It's sort of retro-looking, so that's neat. The next one is kinda weird. It's a wood grain background with some hi-res scan of some 1960's comic book art drawn by Carmine Infantino, a Bat-Fan favorite!
Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named Ed who writes a blog called "Toys & Stuff". Basically it covers his vintage toy collecting obsession. He is also totally into creating extremely detailed train set scenes. Well, recently he did a blog post all about "How to Make a Batcave". Each month, on the 1st, the Bat-Blog tries to post a BATMAN BIRTHDAY CAKE photo to honor everyone who has a birthday that month. This is the one for January. So, if you have an event this month then HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Now, we gotta say that this Batman Cake is special. Why? Well, besides being extremely cool, this photo was sent in by our friend Justin & was recently made. In fact, he sent us a photo of the original Wilton Cake Pan he used to create it... AWESOME!
If I make it to an extremely old age I'm going to look back on the year 2010 as the worst year of my life. That says a lot because I can look at different moments & know they were pretty bad too. So, for 2011 I'm trying to be more positive and, for now anyway, I'm going to take the gun out of my mouth & try to have a better outlook for the new year. When I woke-up this morning I was in a very rare mood where I didn't quite know what to post. So I decided to share some funny BATMAN AND ROBIN comic strips & humor photos. I think for 2011 we all need a good laugh, ha ha!
