New ALEX ROSS - ROUGH JUSTICE Art Book To be Published

Oh yeah, this is just a quick post to announce the future publication of a brand-new Alex Ross art book, Rough Justice, which will be published by Pantheon next March, in 2010. OK, I know it won't be released for awhile but I'm already stoked! If you're a big fan of Alex Ross' artwork then you're gonna love it. It's main focus will be the DC Comics characters & it's gonna be co-written / designed by Chip Kidd. So, you know it will be cool!

RARE Batman Collectibles From The BATFAN Collection

OK, For people who have been reading the Bat-Blog for quite awhile ( thanks! ) you all know one special contributor nicknamed "The BATFAN". He has donated a lot of cool contest prizes & has sent us photos from his amazing Batman Art Collection. Well, here are a few pieces of Batman Memorabilia he has in his personal collection that he wanted to share because they're all so extremely unusual & very rare. The 1st two items are Batman-Shaped Ceramic Clocks that were made & produced in Japan. Plus, they were ONLY SOLD IN JAPAN too so they're kinda hard to find in the USA. They were issued in the 1980's, just a few years before the 1989 Batman Movie. They're both so extremely cool that I actually can't decide which one I like best, ha ha! The company who made them is named CREATE & they also made the 2 Glass Mugs you see below the clocks. OK, Now the last photo is a set of Ceramic Thimbles made in England ( UK ) by the Berkshire China company in 1996. The weird thing is Batman looks like he's the "movie version" while all the others seem like they're from the "Batman: The Animated Series" cartoon. Plus, the colors are sort of off a little bit. But, they're totally wonderful to look at & I love the artwork they have! All of these items are really great & I know a lot of collectors are gonna totally droll over these pics, thanks Batfan!

The show will feature art work in many shapes, forms, & sizes but all of it will have a special focus on Batman and/or The Joker. There will be paintings, photos, colleges, etc...To celebrate the event I made these 2 WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS you can use on your desktop as a reminder. Also, if anybody goes to this thing then please let us know how it went & send us some photos if ya can, thanks!

Bernie's Amazing BATMAN TOYS AND MEMORABILIA Collection!

When I started the Bat-Blog I always knew that the main focus would be about collecting the cool Batman toys & memorabilia. It's also a place for stories about weird happenings, movie news, information about the TV cartoon, what's going on in the comic books, etc... but really we're mostly about the joys of being a bat-collector! So, I was really happy to receive in my e-mail box all these super-excellent photos the other day from a reader named Bernie! He's been collecting a ton of great bat-items over the years & his collection is a really nice mixture of both brand-new & vintage, with a little bootleg stuff mixed in. I also like how everything is displayed so well. It's all so neat & organized. Bernie needs to come over to my house & do some arranging for me, ha ha! But all kidding aside he has an extremely excellent collection & I appreciate the time he took for the pictures, they're very cool! If any other Bat-Blog Readers have a nice display ( or an ugly one ) then please send us some pics. Our e-mail button is ALWAYS on the top right-hand side of this page. Thanks again, Bernie!

Vintage 1960's BATMAN AND ROBIN Promotional Advertising Postcard

Here's a piece of strange bat-history! This is a 1960's Vintage Postcard advertising for "Color Dynamics," a local California printing company, inspired by the 1966 Batman TV show. The front features a full color promo photo of ( presumably ) the owners dressed as the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin. The reverse reads "POW! Holy Headquarters!!" and announces the store is moving to a new location in Saratoga, CA.

The Superheroine Monologues - A Parody Of Super Proportions

OK, If you happen to be in the Boston area next month then you will not want to miss this wacky play at the theater called "The Superheroine Monologues". It will open in the Plaza Theater at the Boston Center of the Arts on September 10th & will run until Sept 26th, 2009. The entire cast are Superheroes and Superheroines ( Both Marvel & DC Comics ) & the show is mainly from the female point of view. Now, I gotta say that I totally love this Batgirl outfit ( shown in the photo up above )! Plus, the Riddler & Penguin costumes are pretty nice too. For more information please be sure to visit their website & while there remember to enjoy some of the photos they have up. You'll see that the costumes are totally insane with great attention to detail. To visit their page just click HERE!

The BATMAN Is Spotted in Chile!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named David, sent us these really cool photos the other day of a new item he found in Chile. Well, actually I think it's been sitting on the store shelves for awhile because it's an item tied into the older THE BATMAN animated cartoon series. He said he found it in a Pharmacy & it's a tin box filled with Batman Band-Aids. It has totally amazing graphics all over it. WOW! I really like it! David, this is an extremely RARE & unusual piece of bat-memorabilia! Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos, I appreciate that a lot. If any other Bat-Blog Readers, from anywhere in the whole wide world, spot ANY new pieces of Batman-related merchandise then please send us some photos (or if you can't send pics then just send the information). The main reason I'm asking is because the Bat-Blog is all about sharing the joys of collecting. Thanks.
