In Pittsburgh, at the TOONSEUM, they're having an Comic Art Show called "SUPERHEROES : ICONS & ORIGINS". Basically it's an Art Gallery showing of Vintage Comic Book Art. Now, it was going to end on July 31st but now they have been extended it through August 21st. For more information, click HERE!
Fans of Original Batman Comic Book Artwork are gonna totally love this! Up above is the Cover Art done by Mike Parobeck for issue #35 of THE BATMAN ADVENTURES. This was basically a tie-in for the Animated Series Cartoon & done in the exact same style. Personally, I have always loved the TV Show so the comics they made were great too because you got the same great graphics. (( Please be sure to click on the pic up above for a way larger, more sharp, picture )) The minimal-clean artwork is totally beautiful! Also, the cover features both Batman & Catwoman so that's kind of cool too.
While surfing the web the other day I came across this hilarious webcomic by Pass Fail Studios. It revolves around the characters of the DC & Marvel Comics Universe. Up above is one such panel, click on it for more easy reading. The web comic has a ton of references to Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Powergirl, Wolverine, Spiderman, X-Men, etc... & some are pretty gosh-darn funny! Check it out sometime. Just a quick note to thank my friend Neal for sending in this funny comic strip he clipped outta the newspaper! It shows Batman at the pharmacy trying to buy an illegal substance, ha ha ha! If you're a regular reader of the Bat-Blog then you know how obsessed I am to always find really good material for Bat-Fans to enjoy, ha ha! Well, the other night, I came across the online art portfolio of a commercial artist named ERIK VON LEHMANN. ( Click on the small pictures above to see large, very detailed, photos ). His artwork is really amazing & to be honest there was so much good material there that it was hard to pick just a few for this story! He has a very unique style & draws many different comic book characters but it seems his main focus, or inspiration, is The Dark Knight himself! I can tell from the love he puts into these drawings that this guy is a HUGE Batman Fan so that's cool. Anyway, here are just a few examples of this talented artist's work.
