Here is an extremely RARE vintage 1960's Batman TV Show collectible item. This is an original KHJ Radio/93 - Los Angeles, California / Boss 30 Survey in Southern California for the Week of February 2, 1966; Issue #31. The front cover features a cool pic of "Batman/Adam West" and a KHJ Radio DJ.
On August 16th, 2010 Adam West ( Batman from the 1966 TV Series ) appeared on WSL-AM 890 radio for a telephone interview & it's pretty interesting, especially if you're a Batman Fan. He talks a little bit about doing the show back in the 60's, shares his thoughts on "The Dark Knight" movie, & he even describes his "ADAM WEST NAKED" DVD movie. You can listen to the recording at this LINK
I recently discovered a website called BATMAN RADIO and, for right now, they only have 1 audio clip ( MP3 Format ) posted but maybe later they'll have more. We'll have to see. But for right now it is a very neat Golden Age-Style story to listen to. Basically, it's an old time radio show of "The Adventures of Batman & Robin". Down below is a link & when ya get there just click on the old radio dial like you see in the graphic up above. The link is HERE!
A very good friend to the Bat-Blog has just recently been interviewed on NPR Radio so I thought I would proudly share it here. His name is Saul Ferris & besides being a pretty nice guy he's also a Super-Collector of all things Batman ( Just so you know, his picture really didn't have a Batman Mask on it, that's just me being wacky! ). His main focus is on the Super-Rare Vintage 1960's Batman Toys & Memorabilia. He was a major contributor to the publication of Chip Kidd's latest book "Bat-Manga!: The Secret History of Batman in Japan". In fact, the Bat-Manga book is a large part of the radio show but also includes a lot of tips about collecting toys & comics. Also included in the interview is Anne Ishii, who served as the Japanese translator for the book project. To hear this show on either your iPod or PC just click on the link button down below. When you arrive at the website just look for a show titled "The Sweet Smell of Yesteryear" recorded on January 4th, 2009. Click on the "audio button" & it magically appears in your media player. Also, if you want to contact Saul about any old 60's Batman Toys you have for sale he can be reached at ICOLLECTBATMAN@aol.com. ( Someday I'm gonna have to tease him about still being on AOL, ha ha ). Oh yeah, one last thing. I had a photo of Saul Ferris that I could post here but apologize for not having one of Anne. I tried to find one on Google, but couldn't find one that wasn't copyrighted. Just so you readers know, she is very very cute!
Recently I discovered this very cool vintage-style radio show called BATMAN : ACE OF DETECTIVES. Basically it's alot like those old radio shows you could listen to in the 1940's, like Little Orphan Annie or Superman, but it's completely NEW! When you listen to it there's sound effects ( creaking door, car engine starting, that kinda thing )& even great background music that really brings it to life. This is a lost ART! Also, the voices are extremely well done. The voice actors are top-notch & I really like the people who play Batman & Alfred. Actually ALL the voices are good & the storyline is interesting. I think they have about 9 or 10 episodes so far & they're well worth listening to. You can hear them at their website or do what I do. I download the MP3 & listen to them while working. You can find a LINK BUTTON at the BAT-BLOG LINKS area, the button for LINKS is on the top right-hand side of this batblog.
