On MySpace the other day I saw this extremely funny Batman cartoon floating around on a few pages. It's a parody of the famous Art Masterpiece titled "Nighthawks". You know, the Edward Hopper painting that represents existential loneliness in American big-city life. This classic piece of art is an icon & the cartoonist who did the drawing did a great job capturing both the look & feel of the original...and it's funny! I went to the Art Institute of Chicago a few years ago & saw this painting in real life. It was an amazing experience to be so familuar with this image & then to actually stand in front of "the real thing" at the museum. It's hard to describe but it's almost a religious experience.
